Proximity Alert Notification Set up

Proximity Alert Templates are designed to send notifications when a driver approaches a specified distance or time from the pickup location for a trip. These notifications inform passengers of the driver's proximity, enhancing their overall experience. The setup of Proximity Alert Templates offers various options regarding how, when, and what information is communicated to the passenger. Below, we will explore these options in detail.  

Proximity Template:

  • On Mediroutes.com website, go to Notification section under Dispatch area. 
  • Under Templates, choose Proximity Alert Template. 
  • Once you open the template, make sure to click Proximity Alert Status to ACTIVE to turn on the Proximity Alert template.  

Here you can customize the message, how it is sent out ( Text, Voice, Email), with WMR (Where's My Ride URL), and other items listed below. 

  • Left hand side, choose Email/Text/Voice (any combo). 
  • Check is you want to use WMR URL or not. click on each item to see pricing. 
  • Response required, will add a section to bottom of text message (1 to confirm, 2 to request a cancel). 
  • Customize section for Message with trip info to be inserted into message.

On the right side of the screen, you can customize your message. You have the flexibility to compose your own text, incorporating insertable fields from the trip details. Additionally, you can include the URL for the Where's My Ride (WMR) link based on your settings. The "Estimated Segments" section will inform you of the anticipated number of text messages that may be sent by cell carriers, helping you manage communication effectively.

Hit Next once you are finished with message part, to set up the Proximity Alert timing.

Proximity Alert Timing Set Up

  • After clicking NEXT, you will get the slide out menu to set up the timing, and who gets the message. 
  • The Send Alert section enables you to determine the advance notice for the message, allowing you to choose from options such as 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
  • The timing for alerts is determined by your preference for either the scheduled pickup time for the trip or the estimated time of arrival (ETA) based on the current status of the run. Select the option that best suits your needs, and the timing specified in the Send Alert section will be applied accordingly.
  • In the Funding Source section, select the specific funding sources for the trips you wish to include in your Proximity Alerts. After making your selections, click 'Save' to activate your Proximity Alert setup.
