How to Find The Best Route For an Unscheduled trip

There are two ways to schedule an individual trip: Shop Trip, which recommends the best-fitting routes, and Force to Route, which assigns a trip directly to the route you choose. This article walks through how to use each

Before you start: These instructions assume New Dispatch is already live on your account and you're working with dispatcher-level access. If you're not set up there yet, start with New Dispatch setup.

Shop Trip

  1. Select service date in the Magic Bar

  2. Right Click the unscheduled trip in the trip list

  3. Select Shop Trip

  4. Review the ranked route recommendations. Each option shows how the trip fits within the route's existing schedule 

  5. Choose  the best-fitting route

  6. Click Add Trip

Tip:  Shop Trip is the quickest way to schedule an individual trip when you're not sure where it belongs 

Force to Route

  1. Select service date in the Magic Bar

  2. Right Click the unscheduled trip in the trip list

  3. Select Force to Route

  4. Choose the route

  5. Click Force

Caution: Force to Route bypasses schedule-fit recommendations, so review the route afterward to confirm the trip works within the existing schedule.
