This article outlines a work around for an issue we've encountered when using the Windows built-in "Microsoft's Print to PDF" Print Driver.
Some MediRoutes customer have encountered issues when trying to open the PDF files of reports generated from within MediRoutes.
These PDF reports will indicate a size of 0 bytes (when you right click on the file and select "Properties" as seen in the below image).
The exact cause of the issue remains under investigation but we have discovered that other non-Microsoft "print to pdf" drivers are able to generate the file successfully as a work-around.
While MediRoutes does not officially endorse or recommend any specific print to pdf driver, there are a number of free pdf drivers available for download that may work to generate these pdf files successfully.
In testing, we've seen MediRoutes reports that failed to generate successfully using Microsoft's Print to Pdf option, generate successfully when using other Print to Pdf drivers. We have found that the CutePDF driver is one that can successfully resolve these issues, is free to download, and is a secure link from a secure website. We have provided a link below for you to download and install it. If you decide to explore other free PDF drivers for Windows, please ensure that you download from a reputable and secure website to protect your system.
Installing an alternate print to pdf driver requires you to download and then install the application. Once installed, you should then have a new option for printing that utilizes the new driver name. You may need to reboot your PC.
