Scheduling on MediRoutes Desktop
How to Schedule Trips and Optimize Your Daily Routes
Scheduling in MediRoutes is the process of assigning trips to driver runs (routes) in the most efficient and organized way possible.
Before scheduling trips, it is important to understand that runs must be properly created and managed first.
Step 1: Manage your Runs (Routes)
Best practice for building a schedule is to only have active the Runs that are available for you to use and only for the times that they are available. This will ensure that when you are shopping trips, the system is not providing you with options that would not be possible due to a run not being available at that time.
Step 2: Choose Your Scheduling Method
Once your runs are set up, there are two ways to schedule trips in MediRoutes Desktop:
1. Manual Scheduling (Shopping Tool / Route Optimization Tool)
Manual scheduling uses MediRoutes’ built-in Route Optimization Tool, often referred to as the Shopping Tool.
With this method:
-
You select a specific trip
-
Compare available runs
-
View estimated placement within the route
-
Optimize based on time, distance, and efficiency
-
Manually assign the trip to the best run
This method is ideal when:
-
You want greater control over trip placement
-
You are adjusting or fine-tuning routes

2. Batch Scheduling (Automated Optimization)
Batch Scheduling allows you to schedule multiple unscheduled trips at once using MediRoutes’ optimization engine.
With this method:
-
The system automatically evaluates runs
-
Trips are assigned based on route efficiency
-
Travel time and timing windows are optimized
-
Large volumes of trips can be scheduled quickly
This method is ideal when:
-
Scheduling a high volume of trips
-
Building routes for an entire day
-
Maximizing route efficiency with minimal manual input
