Dispatching in MediRoutes
Everything a dispatcher needs to manage the day in MediRoutes
Dispatch is where you manage trips and routes once they are in the system: tracking where each trip stands, handling changes as they come in, adjusting routes, and keeping drivers and passengers informed.
Understanding Trip Statuses
A trip's status tells you where that trip stands at any moment. Statuses are normally advanced by the driver in the driver app, which records a GPS location and timestamp at each event. Dispatchers can set a status when the driver cannot.
- Trip Statuses Overview — The trip lifecycle, how legs and events work together, and what each status means. A round trip is two legs and four events, each with its own arrive and perform action.
- How to Update Trip Statuses as a Dispatcher — Right-click a trip event on the schedule board to update its status. Includes how to confirm you have the correct leg and event before applying a status.
Managing Trips Through the Day
Handle changes as they come in, from cancellations to return trips without a set pickup time.
- How to Cancel and Uncancel a Trip — Right-click actions to cancel a trip and remove it from the list, plus three ways to find a canceled trip and restore it.
- How to Activate and Schedule Will Call Trips — A Will Call trip is a return trip with no set pickup time, used when the appointment end time is unknown. This article covers activating the trip when the passenger calls and scheduling the pickup.
Adjusting Routes
Make same-day changes to a route without affecting the standing schedule.
- How to Edit a Route for One Day — Update a route's schedule, driver, vehicle, or garage for a single day. Use this when a driver starts later or stays later than usual. These edits do not carry over to future days.
- How to Reorder Events on a Route — Drag and drop pickup and dropoff events to change a driver's sequence, and watch for violation warnings while reordering.
Communicating with Drivers and Passengers
Keep everyone informed without leaving MediRoutes.
- How to Message Drivers — Send a message to one driver or broadcast to several at once, delivered to the driver's device in real time. Also covers reviewing message history for a route.
- How to Share a "Where's My Ride" Link — Copy and send a tracking link so a passenger can follow their ride. The trip must be scheduled for a link to be available.
